Could be the last year I get to go back to higley flow. The dammed up section on the Racquet river that my grand parents own a lake house on. They’re getting up there in the years and it was readily apparent that my grand father needed a hip replacement, but refused it because he’s into eastern remedies. Other than that the week went quite pleasantly; beside the fact that I thought the TSA stole some stuff and my phone up and died due to the humidity (so my number might change as such).
The week started out with the whole family there. Got to see my cousins again. It had been an few years but we still couldn’t get them to do much in the way of water sports. Nicole wouldn’t go near the water and micheal was scared to try anything else other than two skiis. I had to have been outside non-stop this week as I now have a real tan. There were a couple new toys there this year including all the others. The first was the wake skate which was rather like a wake board without bindings — which made for fewer face plants. The second was the wake surfer which you’re intended to drop the line and surf the wake; although, we never could get that to work out. Next was the boom which isn’t really a toy in itself; it just makes learning barefoot skiing easier. Then there were the usuals: the wake board, skiis, and of course the might air chair.
From the whole week I think the barefoot skiing was the hardest to do. Never did quite get it done but the guy teaching us made it look easy. He did dock starts, water starts and everything you could think of that had to do with barefooting. In the end it was a well worth while trip. Here’s hoping that the lake house stays in the family even if it is three thousand mile away.
edit: scratch that bit about the phone. it magically revived itself.
